José Cara, MD joined Pfizer in 2005 as Medical Director in World Wide Endocrine Care. A native of Argentina, Dr. Cara received his medical degree from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina, and then completed his pediatric training and pediatric endocrinology fellowship at the State University of New York Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, PA, respectively.
He worked as Instructor and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago and performed research on structural and functional aspects of insulin-like growth factors and their receptors. Dr. Cara became an Associate Professor of Pediatrics when he assumed the role of Division Head of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes at Henry Ford Hospital and Wayne State University, Detroit, MI. In addition to his research, teaching and patient care responsibilities, Dr. Cara served as Medical Director for Kids Care of Michigan, an HMO for children with special needs, and as an FDA Advisory Committee Member.
Dr. Cara is a Vice President in Endocrine Care at Pfizer and leads all development and medical activities within Endocrine Care.
